The brand name was a bit long and complicated to memorise, so from the initials of his name (his friends called him Adi) came the idea of marketing shoes under the adidas brand. This is the true origin of the name, while the urban legend that adidas stands for 'All Day I Dream About Sport' is just that - a legend.
