If you happen to follow Taro Tamai's Instagram profile, you'll already know he's one of the coolest and most stylish freeriders this earth has ever spat out of its bowels; if you don't know him, don't do like our colleague who always gets told off for using his phone at the office – look him up at home. In short, a guy like that was given carte blanche by K2 to make a boot in his own image and likeness, and being Japanese he made it yellow. Then it seems that this year he got some strange skin disease and made it green. All right, put like that it sounds like the people at K2 are a bunch of baboons with their backsides soaking in the hot springs, but in reality this boot represents the forefather of the new era of boots with a soft, surfy feel. The double boa manages the closure on the foot and on the shin separately so as to find the perfect fit, the structure is super comfortable and sensitive on the board without annoying pressure points, while the inner liner is, I swear, so warm and soft I'd stick my... foot in it right now. The Vibram sole has scary grip and the neoprene gaiter keeps out even the nastiest snow, while the hiking-boot look goes down a treat among freeriders and assorted hermits.
