Fabrics of ski jackets

The main difference lies between coated and laminated fabric. The former fabric uses a layer of waterproofing coated onto the 'shell' of the jacket. Low production costs, very good performance, normal breathability. Materials such as goretex and the like, on the other hand, use layers of different fabrics with alternating properties to achieve great waterproofing combined with very high breathability. And that effect of slipping droplets? That's a waxy treatment applied externally, it's called DWR and after some use it disappears. It can be restored, but even without the frightened droplet effect the jacket still works.
