With the Phase, Nitro really surprised me – the Alternator for those with holes in their pockets (me). At first you don't feel like you have a board built to hit a good price point under your feet, and yet, despite not costing a fortune, it has serious performance. The all-mountain par excellence that saves where it has to and kicks backsides in every turn thanks to the directional twin shape with camber in the middle, which is a guarantee of fun and versatility, from inside the park to a couple of runs between the trees. This is the value indicating a snowboard's resistance to bending. A stiff board (high flex) is more responsive and gives a more immediate, safe and stable response, while a soft board (low flex) is easier to handle and geared towards freestyle tricks. The medium, balanced flex delivers excellent pop, stability and manoeuvrability.
