No, the Benchwarmer wasn't born crooked; blame Yuki Kadono, a pocket-sized Japanese guy who at 21 has already kicked more backsides than a veteran pro in a 30-year career. Maybe not in the same way, but come on, you get me. Anyway, if you browse YouTube every now and then, you know that for every aspect of life there's someone out there who does it better and obsessively, and here too history repeats itself, because this guy pulled out a landmine of a board that, if buried, would make an area the size of Uzbekistan impassable. Classic traditional camber still wins fans when an athlete is looking for precision and stability on landings; you may not jump a tenth of what this Yuki does, but you like laying down a couple of turns on piste feeling a nice precise rail under you. Getting back to the asymmetry thing for a moment: it's perfect for compensating for the natural range of motion of your joints when you turn backside; by tightening the sidecut earlier it lets you enter the aggressive phase of the turn with less effort and get more hold for the same movement. The rest of the board is built to travel at speeds close to a dimensional jump, while you try to throw huge tricks in full control of the situation. What? You can't see yourself doing it? Relax bro, you can also use it like everybody else to carve, jump sensibly and take a couple of laps in powder; this board is scary good anyway.
